
Joseph’s diverse conducting career has taken him to stages across the United States and internationally. He has appeared as a conductor with Sofia Philharmonic in Bulgaria, the Pride Bands Alliance national conference in Denver, the Pacific Artists Collective in Oregon, and the Maryland Chamber Winds in Virginia.
The Gay Freedom Band of Los Angeles
Since 2022, Joseph Vranas has served as Artistic Director for The Gay Freedom Band of Los Angeles, the second oldest LGBTQ+ community band in the world. With over 45 years of bringing together musicians to learn and perform in Concert, Marching, and Jazz bands, GFBLA continues to grow, sharing a mission of equality, inclusion, and love at various venues and events around Los Angeles.

Music Education
Joseph is a conductor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) and has worked extensively with other after school music education programs in Los Angeles such as the Saturday Conservatory of Music, Harmony Project, and EduCare as a conductor of both youth orchestras and wind ensemble, Trumpet teaching artist, and lecturer in music philosophy, theory, history, and composition. With an engaging, mindful approach to music learning, Vranas has taught students from elementary through college and with varied backgrounds and experience. He has been recognized by the City of Bell, CA and the Texas Music Educators Association for excellence in teaching.
