Joseph Vranas (aka Mr. Joey) is a conductor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) program, conducting the Camino Youth Orchestra and YOLA Institute orchestras and wind ensembles. Mr. Joey has conducted and prepared student ensembles for several YOLA special projects including the YOLA National Festival, YOLA Camp, YOLA Tours with the LA Phil, and in partnerships with the Hollywood Bowl and LA Opera.

Mr. Joey has worked extensively with music education programs in Los Angeles such as the Saturday Conservatory of Music, Harmony Project, and EduCare as a conductor of both youth orchestras and wind ensembles, as a Trumpet and French Horn Teaching Artist, and as a music theory, history, and composition teacher. Mr. Joey has been an invited clinician for band and orchestra programs and has lectured at universities on the subjects of music theory, history, composition, screenwriting, and film analysis.

With an engaging, student-centered approach to music learning, Mr. Joey has connected with students from elementary through college and with varied backgrounds and experience. He has been recognized by the City of Bell, CA and the Texas Music Educators Association for excellence in music instruction.
